Profile Machine Operator


Job Purpose

To operate CNC profiling equipment (Bystronic/Esprit/Trumpf) as instructed by supervision to produce a variety of high-quality products in line with customers’ requirements.

Day to Day operations

Reporting to the Profiling Team leader, you will work as part of the profile machining team ensuring that you are producing products meeting the correct client specifications, maintaining the company’s focus on quality, cost and delivery.

Principal responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring the machine operation plan is executed to the timescales required and to the required drawing/specifications, highlighting any deviation to the specification in a timely manner and through the correct channels

• Work methodically through tasks to ensure quality is not compromised when under time constraints

• Facilitate maximum machine utilisation with minimum ‘down time’

• Highlight any issues to your team leader/production manager in a timely manner to ensure that the production schedule is not impacted

• Prepare and load raw material and parts onto the machines

• Set and operate the machines to produce fabricated parts
• Maintain plant and equipment and ensure appropriate spares are available. Carry out machine maintenance as required.

• Supervise the machinery and make necessary adjustments to produce quality results

• Performing operations such as drilling, tapping, sawing, grinding, bending and finishing as required.

• Liaise with the profiling, production and engineering teams to clarify requirements

• Ensure consumable materials are readily available and notify through the correct channels of any low consumable stocks prior to stock outage.

• Ensure efficient storage and identification of raw materials

• Provide accurate documentation as required

• Maintain product traceability and compliance to the required standards

• Provide guidance, advice and expertise regarding machine setting, operating, training and general problem solving. Training others as requested, ensuring training is understood and that the trainee is competent to perform tasks safely and within the correct timescales.

• Contribute ideas to quality led improvement projects that drive for excellence

• Support overall Quality performance and adhere that quality policies and procedures are adhered to.

• Maintain established housekeeping standards and practices. Responsible for housekeeping standard of equipment and work areas

• Comply with all Health & Safety requirements

• Comply with all Company policies and procedures

• Any other duties as reasonably requested by your Team Leader, Production Manager or a member of the Senior Management team

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential / Desirable:
• Knowledge of CNC profiling is essential i.e. Laser / Plasma / Waterjet.
• Proficient in reading, understanding and interpreting Engineering drawings and specifications
• IT skills
• FLT and Crane licence is desirable
• 1-2 years of CNC profiling experience on of the following machines – Plasma (Esprit/Hypertherm), Waterjet (Bystronic/Flow) or Laser (Trumpf)
• Ability to use measuring equipment such as but not limited to tape measures, Vernier callipers is essential
• Understanding of different material grades is essential
• Sound decision making and problem-solving skills
