Job Summary:

The Logistics Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the internal supply chain process, from review of requirements and receipt of the route cards to delivering finished products to customers. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and implement strategies to optimise the supply chain, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.

A key part of the role is to develop the strategy for the department with the support of the Supply Chain Manager and to drive modernisation and continuous improvement of the function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimize the process, efficiencies and reduce costs.
  • Manage relationships with internal stake holders, delivering on time and in full.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure that stock is maintained at optimal levels.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure that production schedules are met and that customer orders are fulfilled on time.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the supply chain process.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Manage supply chain systems and their development.

Experience

  • Manufacturing background — needs to be able to understand a very complex routing/engineering flow, we build to print, we do just about all operations in house from cutting, profiling, machining, fab & Weld, inspection, and coating.
  • Managing stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Subcontract process improvement.
  • Track record decreasing costs and improving efficiencies.
  • Have managed people and teams up to 12.
  • Stores and factory layout experience, to optimise storage solutions and optimise flow.
  • Used to working a factory environment with high health and safety requirements.
  • Experienced in setting and monitoring stores KPIs.
  • Experienced in stores systems, Excel and able to analyse and use data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintaining high health and safety standards and recognising/mitigating risks within the department
  • Must be competent in ERP systems and have been part of their adoption and usage.
  • Understanding of transport – movement requirements.
  • Stock control – understanding of managing stock from operation to operation and where that stock is system/physically.
  • Sub-contract understanding of processes carried out off-site.
  • Despatch — understanding of the importance of our customer and maintaining/reporting/developing relevant KPIs.
  • Leadership skills — able to support but also, when necessary, discipline staff, carry out appraisals, and be a mentor.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a supply chain management role.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management software and tools.
