This role is based at Armstrong Works, Scotswood Road, the factory covers 33,000m² of space with multiple businesses occupying the site.

About the Role:

As a vital member of our security team, the Security Guards at Armstrong Works play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment on-site. The primary responsibilities include overseeing site security, promptly addressing issues, managing access control, conducting patrols, monitoring CCTV, and responding to incidents. This role requires a proactive and solution-oriented approach to ensure the well-being of all personnel and assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain the overall security of the Armstrong Works site.
  • Conduct regular high profile patrols to provide a visible deterrent and reassurance.
  • Enforce gatehouse procedures and control access for staff, visitors, and contractors.
  • Raise and communicate any security issues or problems to the team leader promptly.
  • Collaborate with team members to solve day-to-day operational issues.
  • Answer telephone calls, signpost inquiries appropriately, and maintain effective communication.
  • Take responsibility for monitoring CCTV systems.
  • Coordinate an appropriate response to potential security incidents as required.
  • Manage or assist in the resolution of security incidents in a calm and professional manner.
  • Adhere to Security Assignment instructions and carry out duties accordingly.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with gatehouse procedures.
  • Knowledge of security systems, equipment, policies, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with administration systems (Word, Excel)
  • SIA Approved (desirable, training provided if required).
  • First Aid trained (desirable, training provided if required).
  • SC clearance (to be sought as part of employment requirements).
  • CCTV license (desirable, training provided if required).
  • Full UK driving license (desirable).
  • Conflict Management Training (training provided).

Shift Pattern

  • 4 days, 4 off, 4 nights, 4 off rotation.
  • 12 hour shifts.
  • Approx 42 hours per week.

As a defence contractor, we have a number of security obligations placed upon the company, which means that all our staff must be able to successfully achieve the relevant security clearances.

Candidates with the relevant experience or job titles of: Corporate Security, Security Officer, Security Guard, Experienced Security Officer, Security, Security Enforcement Officer, SIA Licence, SIA Licenced Security Officer, CCTV, Security Support Officer, may also be considered for this role.
