Top coaching staff from the Spanish giants arrived on Monday for a week of masterclasses at Newcastle City Juniors. Defence Minister Praises World-Class Armstrong Works

Defence Minister, Philip Dunne MP, praised the unique manufacturing facilities at the Armstrong Works during his visit to the North East. The Minister, accompanied by Hexham MP, Guy Opperman, also highlighted the vital role of innovative SMEs in the MoD supply chain. Students’ Signs Take Pride of Place in Villages

Visitors to two Gateshead villages will receive a special welcome thanks to new road signs designed by local students. Young engineers from Thorp Academy in Ryton teamed up with Tyneside firm Responsive Engineering to develop their own unique creations that prove their pride in where they live. Talented young musicians visited the Armstrong Works to highlight the vital role of creativity in science. Children from the famous BBC programme ‘The Geordie Symphony School’ joined staff for a rare chance to see one of the world’s oldest working traction engines in action. Mary Margaret, built in 1889, is on loan to the factory from Michael Davison, a keen enthusiast introduced by Beamish museum.
